What is the
British Sports Horse Registry?
If your stallion(s), mare(s) or youngstock are not eligible
for BWBS papers or grading, they may be eligible for entry
into the British Sport Horse Registry and/or grading/inspection as
a British Sports Horse. The Registry is intended to provide
a record of horses ineligible for BWBS grading on bloodlines
who have reached the BWBS standard of grading in correctness
of paces, conformation etc.
Further details of the rules of
the British Sports Horse Registry are available from BWBS, Goblaen House, Rhosgoch, Powys, LD2 3JT.

Mare Inspections
To be eligible for British Sports Horse
Mare Inspections a mare must:
1. Be at least 15 hands in height
And
2. Have British Sports Horse identification papers or have been covered
by, or produced a foal by, a BWBS or BSHR graded stallion in the current

Inspection Process
All mares presented for Grading will be assessed on the triangle for
various points such as correctness, overline, fore legs, hind legs,
walk, trot etc. and marked for each point on a scale of 1 - 10 (10 being
excellent). The standard expected of mares passing the inspection will
be equivalent for the marks needed for the mare to enter the BWBS Main

been measured for height, girth and bone using the height and
measurement form, or a copy of the mares vaccination record if these
details appear.
How to Enter

with the mares original papers (if any) and proof of covering (if
applicable) to the Mare Grading Secretary,
1 Westfield Avenue,
Bridgend, Mid Glamorgan, CF31 4HH (Tel 01656 668199) not later than 8th
August 2005. Please note that the Bone, Height and Girth measurements
may be taken by the owner and the owner’s signature is required on the

returned to the owner along with a set of her marks. This process
usually takes approximately 6 weeks.
Please note that for reasons of time tabling and stabling accommodation,
the total number of entries accepted for the BWBS Mare Grading and the
BSHR Mare Inspection together cannot exceed 70. it is therefore possible
that a balloting out procedure will be used, which may apply to older
mares without foals at foot, Warm-Blood mares without pure-bred
pedigrees and/or thoroughbred mares.
